Nearly six years after the release of “Stree,” the sequel to Amar Kaushik’s hit horror comedy has finally dropped its trailer. “Stree 2” marks the return of Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. Adding to the excitement, Tamannaah Bhatia makes a special appearance in a song.
The original film, written by Raj & DK, was set in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, where the male residents were terrorized by a vengeful female spirit. Rajkummar Rao starred as Vicky, a timid ladies’ tailor who falls for a mysterious woman, played by Shraddha Kapoor. Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee played Vicky’s best friends, Bittu and Jana. The movie ended on a cliffhanger, with Shraddha’s character revealing herself to have the ponytail associated with the malevolent spirit.
In “Stree 2,” the residents of Chanderi face a new threat: a headless male monster named Sarkata. According to Rudra Bhaiya, the wise paranologist played by Pankaj Tripathi, Sarkata is Stree’s arch-nemesis. He has resurfaced to brainwash the men of Chanderi, much like a modern-day influencer. It’s up to Vicky, reunited with his enigmatic love, and his friends to save their town from Sarkata’s menace.

Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films shared his enthusiasm, stating, “The first ‘Stree’ was a defining film for Maddock, and ‘Stree 2’ will cement the entire universe. It answers all the questions left by the first film and reveals the connections. This sequel is a landmark for us, especially in terms of VFX and world-building. It’s funnier, bigger, and a visual spectacle, featuring all our beloved characters and some intriguing new elements. This is the most important film we’re releasing and our biggest project to date.”
